Based in Emeryville, California, Pixar is a computer generated imaging animation company owned by Disney as of May 2006. Ed Catmull presides over both Pixar and Disney animation studios, along with Pixar's general manager Jim Morris and chief creative officer John Lasseter.

Pixar uses its own products, Renderman and Marionette, to animate and produce its animated features. At first Pixar intended to sell software as a product, but due to the popularity of its demo animations, such as Luxo Jr., the company decided to change its focus to movie production.

Currently, Pixar is launching Toy Story 3. It's next project is Cars 2, planned to be released on June 24, 2011. Cars 2 is Pixar's second sequel. It will feature Lightning McQueen and Mater as they travel around the world.
